Synopsis:
For the updated Sixth Edition of this classic text, Dr. Feigenbaum is joined by two distinguished co-authors, William F. Armstrong, MD and Thomas Ryan, MD. Although thoroughly revised, the text retains its original intent to provide clinically relevant and proven applications of echocardiography. Organized by clinical applications, the book includes practical guidelines on the most appropriate echocardiographic studies for a given clinical problem. More than 1,200 illustrations, including over 200 in full color, complement the text. New Sixth Edition chapters include echocardiographic techniques, stress echocardiography, perioperative and ICU applications, and the heart in systemic disease. This revision includes five separate chapters on acquired valvular heart disease aortic valve disease, mitral valve disease, diseases of the tricuspid and pulmonary valves, infective endocarditis, and prosthetic valves. There is new information on tumors in the chapter on cardiac masses, and the cardiac chambers chapter has been divided into two chapters: evaluation of left ventricular systolic and diastolic function and evaluation of the right ventricle and the right and left atria.
