The aim of this book is to introduce readers to the economics of integration and of the European Union. Its approach is rigorous but at the same time accessible to non-specialists. Only a basic background knowledge of economics is assumed, and this is built on in the chapters to enable the reader to understand the nature and functioning of the EU.
